Live your ideal lifestyle in whatever country you choose
It was 8:30am in the dead of Scottish winter and still dark outside when I crashed my car.
I was unaware there had been heavy rain the night before as I was stacking shelves all night on the graveyard shift. I drove into a body of standing water at 50MPH and immediately lost control of my car.
I spun 180 degrees violently hitting fence posts on both sides of the road before coming to a stop.
The accident pissed me off. I was working a shitty job in a dark and depressing place, and for what? Just to earn some money and survive a mundane existence.
It flipped a switch in me and that night I decided to hatch a plan to get out of Scotland.
I’m glad I did. The last 10 years have been a wild adventure.
Why would you want to work and live abroad?
In a nutshell, it gives you the freedom you’ve been craving and opens your mind to new opportunities.
The benefits of remote work:
Increased Flexibility – Work from anywhere and potentially set your own schedule.
No Commute – One of the best things about working online. It saves you so much time and energy.
Lower Expenses – Reduce costs on transportation, eating out, and Western rent.
More Autonomy – Greater control over how and when you complete tasks.
Diverse Networking – Connect with professionals across different regions and industries.
Working remotely unlocks a new path in your life and reignites your passion.
How can you prepare for your remote job search?
Start by identifying what kind of job you can apply for. What are your existing skills and strengths that are in demand right now?
One of the best ways to land remote work is to build an online presence.
Start posting and showcasing your skills online through youtube videos or writing on Linkedin and X. Making this a consistent habit will start attracting eyes and open up a network of opportunities.
A big misconception is that you need 1000s of followers to land a client. But there are countless examples of people closing clients from just a couple hundred followers on X.
If you consistently showcase your skill and prove you can attract attention in the form of followers and views - the right people will start to take notice.
On top of this, it’s a good idea to start researching what skills are in demand right now. Identify these and double down on skill acquisition to give yourself the best chance.
A few skills in demand now:
Video Editor
This one has been popular for a while, but with the constant influx of new creators over multiple platforms, skilled editors are always in demand.
AI automation expert
Basically you go into a business and set up their CRM, messaging, outreach and appointment scheduling. You are responsible for linking these software tools together so your client’s business runs seamlessly.
Linkedin content creator
Founders don’t have time to write and post on their socials. You can go in and create valuable content on their behalf. I’ve seen people charging upwards of $2000 per month for posting engaging Linkedin posts per week.
Start putting yourself out there, stack your skills, and stay consistent. Soon you’ll have enough leverage to either find your own clients or be a dream hire for a remote position.
Until next time.
